Squeaky-clean Lee Seung Gi gets sexy here

THEY spent thousands of dollars to prepare 60 goodie bags ahead of Korean idol Lee Seung Gi’s fan meet here on Saturday.
In the packages distributed to the media were music albums and specially designed merchandise with images of Lee’s face emblazoned on them.
But it was not the idol’s management team that was behind the move. Instead, it was the star’s die-hard fans from all over the world, including Singapore, who did so.
Explaining why they gave the bags out during Lee’s press conference here on Friday, Ms Nicole Ko, 28, chairman of the Lee Seung Gi Singapore fan club, said: “It’s the culture of fan clubs from South Korea. We want the media to get to know more about Seung Gi.”
The boyish Lee, 26, received a warm welcome at his second fan meeting here, held at Resorts World Sentosa.
Outside the Festive Grand Theatre, which was filled with an estimated 1,400-strong audience, there was a row of nine floral arrangements sent by fan clubs from countries as far away as Turkey and Japan.
It was not hard to see why the fresh-faced star with a megawatt smile is adored by his fans.
Besides serenading them with ballads and upbeat songs such as Tonight and Smile Boy, Lee was a crowd-pleaser with his honeyed words.
The witty Lee asked if his fans slept well the night before the meet, and added: “I couldn’t sleep well because I missed you guys a lot.”
While the actor-singer-host is known for his squeaky-clean image, he showed off his sexy side by teasing his fans and even unbuttoned his shirt at one point.
Scenes of a shirtless Lee in his latest period drama, The Book Of Gu, were screened at the fan meet, eliciting cheers from the audience.
Fans took the opportunity to shower the cheeky star with praises and describe what they loved about their idol. With a glint in his eye, Lee replied: “I think I prefer (being called) sexy.”
When asked what he would do to appease his girlfriend if he was late for a date, he took his fans’ suggestion a step further.
He said: “I’ll kiss her for the duration for which I’m late. If I’m late for 10 minutes, then the kiss will be 10 minutes long.”
Fans told My Paper that they like Lee for his down-to-earth personality.
And it looks like the appeal of the eligible bachelor, who was voted the No. 1 Korean celebrity with “husband material”, is not limited to his single female fans.
One fan, magazine editor Justina Tan, 32, came out tops in a game segment and was duly rewarded with an intimate moment with the star – she got to give Lee a hug.
“I think he comes across as personable, just like his on-screen persona on variety shows. He’s cute in an unconventional way, not your usual heart-throb. The kind that you can take home to your parents,” said Ms Tan, whose ticket was a gift from her husband.
A fan whose fiance was also at the event was asked who she loved more: Lee or her future husband.
Covering her face, she replied abashedly: “Seung Gi.”
